Minnesota United today confirmed that midfielder Ethan Finlay will undergo surgery in the coming days to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his right knee, an injury sustained in the match against Seattle Sounders FC.

Finlay, 27, suffered the injury during the Loons’ 3-1 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday, April 22. He was substituted at halftime of the match.

The Minnesota native and United States international was fantastic over the first part of the 2018 campaign, finishing two of his five shots on goal and contributing an assist in seven starts. Additionally, his brace against Orlando City SC earned him a spot in the MLS Team of the Week for Week 2. Finlay is not expected to return for the 2018 MLS season.

The club sends all of its strength and support to Ethan and wishes him a speedy recovery.
